Wind advisory issued for Bartholomew County

COLUMBUS, Ind. — Bartholomew County Emergency Management is warning the community that a wind advisory will be in effect from 4 to 7 a.m. Thursday.

The National Weather Service said southwest winds from 25 to 35 mph are forecast with gusts up to 55 mph possible.

This will include portions of central, south central, southeast and southwest Indiana.

The wind gusts could blow down trees and power lines and power outages are possible, according to emergency management. Travel using large high profile vehicles could be difficult due to the wind.

Emergency Management also asked residents to secure outdoor objects that could be blown around.

In addition to the wind advisory, Bartholomew County is under a Marginal Risk for severe weather tonight and Thursday.

Main threats are damaging straight line winds, lightning, wind gusts of up to 45 to 50 mph and locally heavy rain.

Severe storms are most likely from midnight to 9 a.m. Thursday.
