Williams honored for credit union service

A longtime volunteer member of a local credit union has been awarded one of Indiana’s highest honors and recently had a day declared in his honor in Columbus.

Jerry L. Williams recently was presented the Distinguished Hoosier Award in recognition of his 42 years of volunteer service on the board of directors of Business & Industrial Federal Credit Union. The institution has a Columbus office at 740 N. Marr Road as well as a location in Madison.

Indiana state Sen. Greg Walker, R-Columbus, recently presented Williams with award at the credit union’s annual meeting. Additionally, Columbus Mayor Jim Lienhoop presented a proclamation declaring Jan. 28, 2023, as Jerry Williams Day in the city.

The Distinguished Hoosier Award is granted at the discretion of the governor to Hoosiers who have uniquely brought admiration and respect to the state through their character and accomplishments.
