IUPUC hosts math contest

IUPUC will be one of nine statewide hosts for the 2023 Indiana State Math Contest sponsored by the Indiana Council of Teachers of Mathematics (ICTM). The contest is on Saturday, April 22, at the Columbus Learning Center.

New this year, parents/legal guardians, as well as teachers, may register their public or private school elementary, middle, or high school students through March 31. The $7 registration fee must be paid online to complete registration. No onsite, day-of or late registrations will be permitted. ICTM reserves the right to verify school and course enrollment. Students may compete in one of five exam categories:

  • Pre-Algebra
  • Algebra First Course/Integrated Math I
  • Geometry/Integrated Math II
  • Algebra Second Course/Integrated Math III
  • Comprehensive

Awards will be presented to top scorers for each category both at the local and state level.

IUPUC Professor Rodney Lynch, Ph.D., is again the exam writer for the Comprehensive exam this year, having written it in 2022 and 2019. Lynch also wrote the Geometry exam in 2017 and 2018.
