A free event to help first-time homebuyers is being planned for next month in Columbus.
Apprisen, in partnership with Union Savings Bank, Southern Indiana Housing and Community Development Corp., and the Lincoln-Central Neighborhood Homebuyer Program, is sponsoring the free First Time Homebuyer Workshop from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Saturday, April 15, at YES Cinema, 328 Jackson St., downtown Columbus.
Workshop topics will include:
• Preparing for homeownership.
• Working with a real estate agent.
• Understanding budgets and credit history.
• Finding and working with a lender.
• Home inspections and home maintenance.
• Preventing loan default.
Each attendee will receive a homebuyer certificate of completion from the Department of Housing and Urban Development at the end of the workshop.
