COLUMBUS
Steven Lee Taylor, 79, of Columbus, passed away at 5:47 p.m. Sunday, March 19, 2023. Steve was born on December 18, 1943 in Columbus, IN to Robert Taylor and LaVonne Skinner Taylor. He married Karen Gatten on April 2, 1965.
Steve graduated from Columbus High School in 1961. He was a member of New Hope Christian Church and retired from Cummins Engine Company in 1999 after 37 years of service as a Space Planner in the corporate business offices. Steve enjoyed backpacking in the Smokey Mountains, woodworking, yardwork, architectural drawing, antique cars, especially his 1959 Corvette.
A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. Friday, March 24, 2023 at New Hope Christian Church, 1404 400 N., Columbus, IN 47203 with Pastor John Sichting officiating. Calling will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Private family entombment will be held at Garland Brook Cemetery Mausoleum.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer’s Association or Our Hospice of South-Central Indiana through the funeral home.
Survivors include his wife, Karen Taylor; daughter, April (Ron) Stinson of Pendleton, IN; sisters, Connie (David) Alka of Columbus, IN, Julie Taylor of Rochester, NY; granddaughter, Samantha Stinson and several nieces and nephews.
Arrangements were entrusted to Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home.
