Two Indianapolis residents were arrested Monday on felony drug charges at the conclusion of a narcotics investigation that involved the CPD Intelligence Led Policing Unit, the Bartholomew County Joint Narcotics Enforcement Team, as well as CPD uniform patrol officers.

At approximately 12:30 p.m., CPD officers stopped a vehicle near U.S. 31 and Hawcreek Boulevard that was occupied by Dante R. Gooch, 35, of Indianapolis and Kylia D. Turner, 32, of Indianapolis. A short time later, a police service dog alerted to the odor of narcotics coming from the vehicle. Officers conducted a search of the vehicle and located marijuana, digital scales, and numerous plastic bags, said Lt. Matt Harris, Columbus Police Department spokesman. Officers also located Suboxone pills on Gooch as well as counterfeit $100 bills inside Turner’s purse.

Gooch and Turner were placed under arrest and transported to the Bartholomew County Jail. Upon arrival at the jail, Turner refused to cooperate with jail book-in procedures including a search. Turner was transported to Columbus Regional Hospital where two search warrants were obtained to search Turner. Nearly one ounce of heroin was later located that she had concealed in her body, Harris said.

Gooch and Turner were remanded with a 48 hour hold on the preliminary charges:

Gooch: Dealing in a narcotic drug (Level 2 felony), possession of a narcotic drug (Level 3 Felony), possession of a controlled substance (Class A misdemeanor), possession of marijuana (Class C misdemeanor), operating a vehicle without receiving a license (Class C misdemeanor), Bartholomew County warrant
