McDonald honored with ‘Best and Brightest’ award

INDIANAPOLIS — Shannon McDonald, accounting manager for Taylor Bros. Construction in Columbus, was named among the Top 10 in Indy’s Best and Brightest in the field of real estate and construction.

The award was announced Thursday at an awards event at the Hilbert Circle Theatre, with 500 guests in attendance.

McDonald was initially selected as one of Indy’s 100 Best and Brightest and then selected as the top honoree in real estate and construction.

Indy’s Best and Brightest was created by Junior Achievement of Central Indiana to recognize up and coming talent and the next generation of leaders, who serve as role models for students and youth in the community.

The event honors 100 of central Indiana’s most outstanding young professionals in 10 different industries, including accounting, banking and financial services, education and nonprofits, government, tourism and the arts, health and life sciences, law, manufacturing, and retail, media and sports, real estate, and technology.

Finalists are judged on professional accomplishments and leadership qualities.

McDonald is an accounting analyst at Taylor Brothers, which has worked with the city on the NexusPark project. He is also on the board of directors for the Community Education Coalition and the Columbus Area Multi-Ethnic Organization, having served as vice president of that organization.

He also serves on the Columbus Redevelopment Commission, and is a board member for NAACP Columbus/Bartholomew County branch, serving as treasurer, and a member of the Columbus Enrichment Program and Kiwanis Club of Columbus.
