Central Indiana now under ‘moderate risk’ for severe weather tonight

1:30 P.M. UPDATE

The Storm Prediction Center has upgraded central Indiana into a moderate risk for severe weather. The main change from earlier this morning is that the damaging wind threat along a line of storms is now expected to be more intense and widespread.

-The primary threat for severe weather will be after 9 p.m.

-The main threat will be damaging straight line winds.

-An isolated tornado and large hail cannot be ruled out along with additional strong to severe storms ahead of the line.

COLUMBUS, Ind. — The National Weather Service now says all of central Indiana is now under an Enhanced Risk for severe weather today and tonight.

Forecasters say rain will diminish through midday today . Additional rain and storms will arrive later in the day. Some storms could be strong to severe this evening with damaging winds as the main threat. Severe storms will be most likely after 9 p.m. Isolated tornadoes and hail are possible.
