‘Shine On’ campaign seeks designs

The Council for Youth Development is continuing to accept submissions for original art to be featured in its 2023 “Shine On” campaign, with entries due Wednesday.

The organization launched the annual campaign in 2017 as a way to celebrate International Youth Day, which is Aug. 12.

“In the week leading up to International Youth Day we distribute 8,000 postcards created by four local, student artists,” CYD’s website states. “Our goal is that each postcard will end up in the hands of a young person in the community with a meaningful message written on the back. Our postcards are ultimately created for young people, by young people.”

Student artists are invited to create original artwork depicting the theme “Shine On.” This phrase must be included in their art, and submissions should be “vibrant, cheerful designs that encourage our children, teens, and young adults to shine,” CYD officials said.
