Bernice Eileen (Martin) Frazier, 86, known to most as Eileen, passed away peacefully at our Hospice of South Central Indiana on Thursday, May 4, 2023. Eileen was the fifth born child of seven to Fred D. and Olive Elizabeth Martin on September 30, 1936 in Columbus, IN. She was a lifelong Columbus resident. During high school she met her first husband, James E. Hollis and was later divorced. On November 7, 1964, she married her second husband, Vincent Frazier and they were happily married for 32 years.

While raising her three children, Marilyn, Doug and Tom she was employed by Arvin and was self- employed. Early in life she enjoyed bowling and being involved in the Bartholomew County Extension Homemakers Club. Later in life, she enjoyed working beside her daughter at her business, Columbus Sewing Center and Sew Crazy where she shared her love and knowledge of sewing and quilting. After retiring in 2011, she enjoyed traveling with her family, lunches with friends and family, sewing, and attending her grandchildren and great grandchildren’s many activities. She was a faithful member of Bethel Wesleyan Church. She is going to be missed dearly by all that knew and loved her.

She is survived by her daughter, Marilyn Hollis (Jeff) Achterberg, Doug Hollis of Montana, and Tom (Tanya) Frazier of Tennessee. Grandchildren include Ryan (Abbi) Achterberg, Jack, Jared and Joshua Hollis, Ashley and Jacob Frazier. She has 6 great grandchildren whom she adored, Evan, Noah and Kate Achterberg, Lannah Marie and Hunter Roberts, and Miguel Hollis. Also surviving is a sister, Catherine Bradley. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Harold, Marion, and Bill Martin and sisters, Charlotte Jenkins and Barbara Weber, and grandson, Alexander Achterberg.

The funeral will be conducted at 1:00 pm, Monday, May 8, 2023 at Barkes, Weaver &Glick Funeral Home, 1029 Washington Street, Columbus, with Pastor Gordon Tilley officiating. A livestream of the funeral service may be viewed at 1:00 pm Monday at barkesweaverglick.com. Visitation will be from 11:00 am until time of service. Eileen will be laid to rest beside her husband, Vincent at Hope Moravian Cemetery, Hope, IN.

The family requests in lieu of flowers that memorial contributions be made to the Bethel Wesleyan Church, 4510 N 150 W, Columbus, IN 47203, Hospice of South Central Indiana in Columbus or your choice of charities.
