Local man accused of dealing meth

A local man was arrested on felony drug charges Thursday as a result of a long-term investigation by the Joint Narcotics Enforcement Team.

During the course of the narcotics investigation, Christopher M. Hubbert, 43, of 355 McClure Road, Columbus was identified as a suspected retail distributor of methamphetamine, investigators said. Hubbert has a previous conviction for dealing methamphetamine, according to JNET investigators.

A search warrant was executed at a home in the 900 block of 13th Street in Columbus by JNET, CPD Uniform Division, and personnel from the Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Department. Hubbert was taken into custody without incident. Methamphetamine, operational digital scales, and packaging material were seized pursuant to the search warrant.

Christopher Hubbert was taken to the Bartholomew County Jail on a 48-hour hold, with bond initially set at $500,000. He is preliminarily charged with dealing in methamphetamine with enhancing circumstances as a Level 2 felony; possession of methamphetamine with enhancing circumstances, as a Level 4 felony and maintaining a common nuisance.

The Joint Narcotics Enforcement Team, a combined unit of the Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Office, the Columbus Police Department and the Bartholomew County Prosecutor’s Office is proactively targeting the manufacturing and abuse of dangerous drugs in Columbus and Bartholomew County.
