Trojans top Olympians

ST. LEON — Columbus East saw its season come to an end Wednesday night with an 8-0 loss to East Central in the opening round of the East Central Sectional.

The Trojans scored one in the first, two in the third and three in the fifth off Olympian starter Will Boyer. East Central capped the scoring with two in the sixth off Jacob Clark.

East Central outhit the Olympians (4-22) 12-3. Caleb Martoccia went 2 for 3, and Chase Zapfe went 1 for 2.

Bulldogs oust Panthers

NEW ALBANY — New Albany jumped out to a 3-0 lead after two innings and went on to post a 6-4 win against Jennings County in the first round of the New Albany Sectional.

Four different players had singles for the Panthers (12-16). Keegan Manowitz, Austin Cohee and Austin Byford combined on a five-hitter with 10 strikeouts.

Jackets escape Lancers

MORRISTOWN — Edinburgh scored two runs and had the bases loaded with the go-ahead run at the plate in the top of the seventh, but Morristown escaped the jam to hold on for 6-3 win in the first round of the Morristown Sectional.

Jacob Myers went 2 for 3 with three RBIs for the Lancers (3-21), who had lost to Morristown 16-0 and 15-0 in two regular-season games. Gabe Bennett and Myers combined on an eight-hitter with 10 strikeouts.

Braves blank Eagles

AUSTIN — Brown County saw its season come to an end with an 11-0, five-inning loss to Brownstown Central in the opening round of the Austin Sectional.

Jade Woolems had the lone hit for the Eagles (3-18).
