Norman homers in World Series-opening win

COLUMBUS, Ga. — Sierra Norman blasted a 265-foot home run to straightaway center field Thursday to help lead Marian to a 2-0 softball win against Midland in the opener of the NAIA World Series.

Norman, a junior first baseman from Columbus North, went 1 for 3 for the Knights. Savannah Harweger, a senior shortstop from Trinity Lutheran, went 1 for 2.

Marian (51-7) came back Friday night with a 6-3 win against Our Lady of the Lake University. Harweger went 2 for 4.

The Knights will play University of the Cumberlands at 7 p.m. today.
