Letter: Thankful for first responders after Lincoln Park shooting

From: Doug Wilson

Columbus

I would like to thank all the first responders and members of the Columbus police department who rushed to the softball field at Lincoln Park Tuesday night, May 23.

Their prompt response and professionalism as they assessed the scene, stabilized the injured and began the investigation that led to the rapid capture of the shooter was extremely impressive.

We should all be thankful that there are still those in our community who run toward danger when the need arises. This incident is just a reminder of how important these brave men and women are.

We should express our gratitude and admiration for them. Those who would believe political opportunists who insult them and call for them to be defunded should try to walk one day in their shoes.
