Doris Harvey
Doris Harvey, age 96, formally of Brownstown/Surprise area passed away on June 5, 2023, at GreenTree At Westwood in Columbus, Indiana. She was born on March 23, 1927, the daughter of Howard and Esther Plump Heiman. On July 1,1949 she married Marion D Harvey at Surprise Methodist Church parsonage. He preceded her in death on December 20, 2000.
Doris was a graduate of Brownstown High School in 1945. After graduation, she worked several years post war for The Federal Reserve Bank of Louisville, Ky. Doris held the distinction of being one of the first people in Jackson County to work on a computer for F.F. Buhner Feed and Fertilizer Company in Seymour. Doris truly enjoyed cleaning her home and church. She also loved word searches.
Survivors include two daughters, Gwen (Gene) Rodenberger and Ann (Lee) Gray. Three Granddaughters, Kat Granat, Charlotte Gray and Rebecca Gray and great-grandchildren , Joy Matlock, Nova Matlock and Tayvin Matlock.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter in infancy Deanna Jane: two brothers Jack Heiman and Noble Heiman.
Visitation will be Sunday, June 11, from 5-7pm at Winklepleck & Brock Funeral home in Brownstown Indiana. Funeral service will be held on Monday, June 12, at 11 am with visitation one hour prior to time of service at the funeral home.
Burial will take place at Acme Cemetery in Acme, Indiana.
Services will be conducted by Pastor Doug Heiman. Memorials may be made to Surprise Methodist Church or Alzheimers Association.
