Railroad work to close Mill Race entrance

Work to repair a railroad crossing on Carl Miske Drive west of Lindsey Street will close the entrance to Mill Race Park at Fifth and Lindsey streets from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. on June 20, according to the contractor.

Legacy Excavating LLC of Columbus has been contracted by Louisville & Indiana Railroad Co. to do repair work that will require a full-day closure of that park entrance, the company said in a press release Monday. The company said in the event of inclement weather, the alternative work date will be either Wednesday, June 21, 2023, or Thursday, June 22, 2023, during the same hours.

Mill Race Park will remain open during the railroad crossing repair and can be accessed via the entrance located off 8th Street near Mill Race Center or the entrance located off Indianapolis Road located west of the 11th Street roundabout.

The park will remain accessible during this construction via entrances off Eighth Street near Mill Race Center or off Indianapolis Road west of the 11th Street roundabout, the company said.
