Mary Jane Miller, 88, from Columbus, died at 6:50 a.m. on Sunday, June 18, 2023, at Franklin Meadows, Franklin, Indiana.
Mary Jane was born November 19, 1934, in Columbus, Indiana and was the only child of William and Lydia (Boxman) Voss. She married her high school sweetheart, Alva Miller, on October 25, 1953. He preceded her in death on October 25, 2014. She was a lifetime member at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, where she was very involved for many years. She graduated from Columbus High School in 1952 and worked several secretarial positions throughout her life. Her most important position was working with her husband at their business, Miller Oil Company. They were fortunate to retire early and enjoyed traveling and wintered in Texas for 22 years.
Survivors include her daughters, Marsha (Bruce) Ott of St. James City, Florida and Karen (Jim) Kincer of Franklin, Indiana; two grandsons that she was very close to, Ryan (Michelle) Kincer of Carmel, Indiana and Matt Kincer of Franklin; nephews, Carl (Karen) Miller and Robert (Deb) Barr and four great nieces. Mary Jane was preceded in death by her parents; her husband and infant son, Mark W. Miller.
Mary Jane will be missed by many who knew her. She never met a stranger until Alzheimer’s changed her talkative personality for several years.
She will be laid to rest next to her husband in Garland Brook Cemetery at a private graveside ceremony with her great-nephew, Pastor Marcus Speer officiating.
