COLUMBUS
Kerry S. Cody, 74 of Columbus, passed from this life at 3:29 p.m. Sunday, June 25, 2023, at Jewish Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky.
Mr. Cody was born March 6, 1949, in Columbus, the son of James C. and Dorothy I Chafin Cody.
Kerry retired in 2008 from Local Union #440 as a steam & pipefitter.
He was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Vietnam War.
He enjoyed membership at the American Legion, V.F.W., Eagles Lodge #741 and Moose Lodge #398.
More than anything, he enjoyed spending time with family.
Survivors include his children, Marlana (Eddie) Hitchings of Indianapolis, Steven (Ashley) Cody of Lusby, MD, Joseph Cody of Columbus, Adam Cody of Columbus and Aaron Cody of Columbus; twelve grandchildren; one great-grandson; and a sister, Betty Whitis of Columbus.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers and a sister.
A memorial service will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with Pastor Luke Maggard officiating.
A time of visitation for family and friends will be from 12:00 p.m. to time of service.
Military honors will be provided by the Bartholomew County Veterans Honor Guard at the funeral home.
In keeping with Mr. Cody’s wishes, cremation will take place.
