Betty Hack, 80, passed away peacefully on July 25, 2023, in Columbus, Indiana surrounded by her loving family. She left a profound impact on all who were fortunate to know her. Betty lived a life full of faith, pride and selflessness.

Born on April 5th 1943, Betty was the daughter of Robert and Esther Hurm, and grew up in Boonville, Indiana. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Bob (Judy) and Rita (Wayne) as well as brother-in-law, Ed (Linda). She is survived by her sisters, Linda (Ed) and Pam (Tom).

Betty was a beacon of resilience throughout her life, raising her family with love, determination and courage. She was the backbone of their home, demonstrating endless support, perseverance, and guidance. She raised and is survived by four sons, Gene (Laura), Douglas (Jacqueline), Tony (Audra) and Chad (Amanda); four grandchildren of Indiana, Caleb (Mackenzie), Samm, Claire and Paige; one great-grandchild of Indiana, Callen; five grandchildren of Virginia, Vienna, Salvatore, Nicholas, Casandra and Michael.

Betty attended St. Clement through 8th grade and graduated from Boonville High School. Her dedication and hard work in clerical and bookkeeping positions were evident in several local businesses including the Textile Factory, Warrick Hospital, Peabody Coal Mine and People’s Bank and Trust. Later in life, Betty also enjoyed assisting the elderly.

Any moment spent with her family was treasured by Betty. She also found much joy working outside in her garden, appreciating simple moments such as seeing butterflies or hummingbirds visiting her flowers.

The loss of Betty leaves a void that can never be filled, but her memory will forever be cherished by her family and friends.

In keeping with the family’s request, cremation has taken place and a Mass of Christian Burial to celebrate Betty Hack’s life will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 12, 2023 at St. Clement Catholic Church in Boonville, IN. Visitation will be one hour before mass.

May her soul rest in eternal peace, and may her legacy of faith, determination and resilience continue to inspire all those she touched.
