Bull Dogs blank LN

INDIANAPOLIS — Class 3A No. 5 Columbus North scored three first half goals and made it stand up in a 3-0 win at Lawrence North.

Aidan Whitley scored off an assist from Thomas De La Cruz in the 19th minute, Obed Oliva finished a pass from Misaki Takemoto in the 24th minute and Leo Iorio scored off an assist from Takemoto in the 26th minute for the Bull Dogs (2-0).

Columbus North outshot the Wildcats 19-5, putting seven on goal to Lawrence North’s three. Juan Jose Salcedo Calderon recorded three saves for the Bull Dogs.

Batesville tops North

BATESVILLE — Columbus North fell to No. 11 Batesville 157-202 at Hillcrest Country Club.

Erin Hopkins led the Bull Dogs with a 39. Lauren Hartwell carded a 45, Kara Buntin added a 54, Ana Pavlov shot 64 and Harper Andresen had a 69.

Panthers take third

SEYMOUR — Jennings County finished third in a tri match at Shadowood. Bedford North Lawrence won with a 163 to 194 for host Seymour and 228 for the Panthers.

Lauren Galvan led Jennings with a 50. Shelby Davis added a 54, Dakota Carr and Aslynn Hopkins each shot 62 and Amilia Gresham had a 68.

Panthers top Jets in 4

HOPE — Jennings County and Hauser split the first two sets, but the Panthers took the final two to pull out a 29-27, 19-25, 25-22, 25-17 victory in the season opener for the Panthers.

Charlee Barlow pounded 14 kills, Avynn Belding had three blocks, Mallory Manowitz notched 18 digs and Sydney Kegley served four aces to lead Jennings. Avynn Belding recorded 11 kills; Abrey Belding added 10 kills and 17 digs, Aylan Belding tallied eight kills, Sydney Kegley had two blocks and Manowitz served two aces.

Mattie Foster led the Jets (1-1) with 18 digs and eight aces. Kenze Bostic pounded 12 kills, Kayden Miller recorded 15 assists and Aniston Bostic had five blocks.

Also for Hauser, Aniston Bostic tallied eight kills, and Paige McDaniel added four kills and one block and Kenze Bostic had two blocks and two aces. Haylin Campbell notched eight assists and five digs, Kayden Miller added six digs Kayden Miller and three aces and Maley Jordan had one assist.

Lancers fall in 5

EDINBURGH — Edinburgh took it the distance before falling to Jac-Cen-Del 14-25, 25-21, 18-25, 25-18, 15-11.

Zoey Sida pounded 18 kills, Kyah Streeval recorded 46 assists, Mia Dodson had four blocks and Kenna Streeval notched 29 digs for the Lancers (1-3).

Also for Edinburgh, MacKenzie Bieker tallied 11 kills and 17 digs, and Jessica Walsh added six kills and 13 digs.

Bears blank Jets

HOPE — Hauser opened its season with a 5-0 loss to Shelbyville.

Caleb Wallace fell to Reece Pickett 6-3, 6-2 at No. 1 singles, Hunter Pappano lost to Caden Claxton 6-2, 6-3 at No. 2 singles and Colten Hatton fell to Layne Pogue 6-0, 6-3 at No. 3 singles for the Jets.

Hauser’s Jentzen Bechtel and Kameron Blair lost to Aiden Smith and Karson Schaf 6-0, 6-1 at No. 1 doubles Jayden Blair and RJ Foster lost to Gavin Reed and Alex Bunton 6-2, 6-4 at No. 2 doubles.

Braves beat Panthers

BROWNSTOWN — Jennings County fell to Brownstown Central 4-1 in its season opener.

Parker Bales beat Smith Hackman 6-0, 6-2 at No. 1 singles to give the Panthers their lone point.

Jennings’ Ryan Schuck fell to Pierson Wheeler 6-0, 6-3 at No. 2 singles, and Isaac Lightner lost to Lane Steward 6-0, 6-1 at No. 3 singles. Brady Sentz and Ty Zohrlaut fell to Evan Schneier and Chase Brock 7-5, 6-3 at No. 1 doubles, and Cole Skinner and Rider Ruddick lost to Max Peters and Brady Davis 6-3, 6-3 at No. 2 doubles.

Trinity tops Twisters

SEYMOUR — Trinity Lutheran won four matches in straight sets in a 4-1 win against Oldenburg Academy.

Jack Stuckwisch won 6-2, 6-3 at No. 1 singles, Solomon Hall prevailed 6-2, 6-0 at No. 2 singles, Nathan Finke and Jonathan Naewedde 6-0, 6-1 at No. 1 doubles and Drew Kerkhof and Will Gausman rolled 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2 doubles for the Cougars (1-1). Luke Shepman fell 6-7 (5), 7-5, (10-3) at No. 3 singles.

CROSS-COUNTRY

Jets, Cougars run

HOPE — Hauser opened its season by hosting the Hauser Hokum-Karem. No team scores were kept.

Nolan Dailey and Colin Kistler led the Jet boys with a third-pace finish in 31 minutes, 45 seconds for 6 miles (runners took turns running a mile three times). Kase Meister and Collin Buck took ninth in 42:29, while Grady Niccum and Mason Moore were 13th in 37:30 and Koleson Gernentz and Braydon McFarland 15th in 39:28.

South Decatur’s Connor Newby and Nick Hunter finished sixth in 34:57. Donovan Hale and Josh Chastain took 16th 40:19, and Logan Wilkinson and Keaton Troutman were 17th in 40:20.

For the Cougar girls, Mary Schwering and Clair Schoettmer finished eighth in 47:38, and Brayley Sundal and Brianna Benefiel were 10th in 49:53.

With only three girls runners, Hauser’s Lucie Asher, Madison Hollman and Addison Dailey combined as a trio to run 51:30.

Panthers win opener

SALEM — Audrie McClintock scored three goals to lead Jennings County to an 8-0 season-opening win at Salem.

Maddy McIntosh netted two goals and three assists for the Panthers. Cheyeanna Leslie scored two goals, and Racheal Manning added one goal and one assist.
