Bartholomew County 4-H Fairgrounds was the setting for the annual three-day Columbus Scottish Festival featuring sheepdog trials, Highland dancing, athletic competitions, music, storytelling, clan histories and whiskey tasting.


Columbus Indiana Philharmonic recorded its first compact disc and was featured on National Public Radio’s “Pipe Dreams” show on WFIU.


To ensure “prompt and proper medical care” for all, Bartholomew County Hospital began staffing the emergency room with on-site physicians around the clock for the first time.
