Charlotte J. Riggin, 95, of Columbus, passed away September 13, 2023.
Charlotte was born February 4, 1928, in Geneva, Indiana to Archie and Clara Martin Chew. On August 30, 1947, she married Max E. Riggin, who preceded her in death on March 13, 2003. On November 25, 2006, Charlotte married Norman Charles Ashcraft, who preceded her in death on July 25, 2019.
Charlotte had numerous hobbies and activities throughout her life. As she got older, Charlotte never shied away from trying new things and having new experiences, especially when there was an opportunity to bond with her family. She enjoyed painting, sewing, as well as doing crafts. Birdwatching at her feeders was another thing Charlotte enjoyed doing. Most of all, Charlotte loved her family, and spending as much time as possible with them. She loved being “Grandma Charlotte” and “Char Char” to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. When her husband Max retired, the pair would load up in their RV and travel to warmer places to escape the cold Indiana winters. After Max passed away, Charlotte and her second husband Norman would dress up as Mr. and Mrs. Claus for Christmas, which she absolutely loved doing.
Charlotte is survived by her sons Greg (Dana) Riggin of Columbus and Tom (Paula) Riggin of Los Angeles, California; her grandchildren Josh Riggin, Claire Shoaf, as well as Andrew and Kevin Riggin; her great-grandchildren Wesley, Alyce, and Ruby Shoaf.
Friends may visit with the family from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Monday, September 18, 2023, at the Jewell – Rittman Family Funeral Home. A graveside service will immediately follow at Jones Cemetery in Muncie, Indiana.
