JEFFERSONVILLE — The Columbus East wrestlers went 4-1 Saturday in the Jeffersonville Duals.
After falling to Class 4A No. 2 Brownsburg 59-11 in their opening match, the 3A No. 6 Olympians bounced back to beat Jennings County 60-15, 3A No. 1 Tell City 48-32, Jeffersonville 66-11 and Providence 84-0.
Talon Jessup went 5-0 at 106 pounds for East. Ethan Poling (113), Gage Rutan (126), Caleb Cooper (144), Nate Anderson (150), Lincoln Cooper (157) and Tyler Lake (175) all went 4-1 for the Olympians; while Aiden Miller (132), Caleb Kirkpatrick (138), Clayton Miller (165), Colin McMahon (190) and Dominic Piper (285) all went 3-2.
Jennings began competing in the Jeffersonville Duals on Friday night and fell to Tell City 54-24 and beat Providence 66-12. On Saturday, the Panthers lost to Jeffersonville 39-31, East 60-15, Brownsburg 72-4, Center Grove’s varsity No. 2 45-30 and 2A No. 10 Heritage Hills 54-24.
Lane Kirchner went 6-1 at 138 for the Panthers. Luke Kirchner (120), RJ Barberis (150), Aiden Kirchner (157) and Chris Hernandez (175) all went 4-3.
Both East and Jennings also had several girls compete. The Olympians’ Eden Knight (145) went 3-0, while Allison Poole (170), Grace McMahon (190) and Monica McMahon (235) all went 2-0. Saige Plummer (120) went 3-1, and Taylor Engelking (115) went 2-1.
