SEYMOUR — Columbus East came to Seymour Thursday evening in a Hoosier Hills Conference girls basketball battle.

The Olympians started slow, falling behind 14-2 after the first quarter. They would find their footing, but the Owls took the 52-35 victory.

East crawled back into the contest after trailing the entire game. The Olympians turned the ball over too many times, and it hurt them, allowing Seymour to run freely in transition to secure easy baskets.

Messiah Trapp led the Olympians (4-12, 1-2), scoring 17 points. Madelyn Poe followed with seven.

Journee Brown was a force for the Owls (8-8, 1-3), scoring 26 points to lead all scorers.

East now will prepare to travel to Class 4A No. 6 Bedford North Lawrence for a matchup with the defending 4A state champion Stars.
