NORTH VERNON — One of the classic pop group Fleetwood Mac’s biggest hits was “Don’t Stop,” featuring the repeating line “Yesterday’s Gone.”
Well, not quite.
The Louisville, Kentucky-based Fleetwood Mac tribute band Back 2 Mac brings yesterday to life at every concert.
And the group’s next area concert is 7:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 2 at the Park Theatre Civic Centre, 25 N Madison Ave., North Vernon.
Back 2 Mac is well known for spot-on covers of the British-American rock band’s hugely popular songs that include “Dreams,” “Go Your Own Way,” “Landslide,” “Gypsy” and “Over My Head.”
“It’s an honor to play these songs, some of the best songs ever,” said Danny Flanagan, one of Back 2 Mac’s guitarists and vocalists. “It’s just so fun.”
The group also features bass player Tim Halcomb, a Dupont native, along with Kimmet Cantrell, Ray Rizzo, Bob Ramsey and Lauren Balthrop. Bob Willis of North Vernon will add a Tom Petty-like touch for at least one song.
The Park Theatre concert is part of Back 2 Mac’s current tour that includes stops at Woodstock, N.Y, Nashville, Tennessee, Chicago, Berea, Kentucky, Maryville, Tennessee, Bloomington, Indianapolis and Louisville and Lexington, Kentucky.
“Back 2 Mac always put on a great show and packs the Park, usually selling out,” said Patti Yount, Park Theatre board president. “Tickets are going fast again. Those who want to see this show better not delay in getting to our box office.”
Formed in 2010 for a one-night-only performance of the Rumours album by Fleetwood Mac, Back 2 Mac play full concerts of Fleetwood Mac music, from New York City (Joe’s Pub, The Cutting Room, Brooklyn Bowl) to Louisville, Kentucky (Headliners Music Hall, Iroquois Amphitheater). The band is an uncommon ensemble of accomplished musicians — members have played or recorded with Bob Weir, Leon Russell, Ian Anderson (Jethro Tull), Josh Ritter, Steve Ferguson (NRBQ) and Days of the New.
Tickets are $20 and are available in advance at the Park Theatre box office, 25 N. Madison Ave., North Vernon. Only cash and checks are accepted. The box office is open 2 to 5 p.m. on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, and 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays. If tickets are still available, they will also be sold at the door on the night of the concert.
