North Vernon suspect arrested on multiple charges after theft report

JENNINGS COUNTY — Jennings County Sheriff deputies arrested a North Vernon man on multiple drug-related charges after the department received a theft report in Campbell Township Friday afternoon.

Jennings County Sheriff’s Deputy Kyle Lee responded to a location in Campbell Township for a report of theft of several chainsaws, concrete saw, a large propane heater along with other items. Information gathered from the scene led Lee to another location in Campbell Township.

Upon arriving, Kenneth C. Redkey, 43, of North Vernon, was in the driveway of the residence. During his interaction with Redkey, Deputy Lee discovered several of the stolen items in the bed of Redkey’s pickup truck, deputies said.

Further investigation led Lee to locate more of the stolen items along with methamphetamine, marijuana, and drug paraphernalia inside of Redkey’s vehicle, deputies said. The stolen items were returned to the rightful owner and Redkey was arrested and booked into the Jennings County Jail with bond set at $3,155.

Redkey is being held on preliminary charges of:

—Possession of Stolen Property -Level 6 Felony

—Possession of Methamphetamine -Level 6 Felony

—Possession of Marijuana -A Misdemeanor

—Possession of Paraphernalia-A Misdemeanor
