COLUMBUS
Marvin “Bill” W. Fish, 91, of Columbus, died at 12:09 p.m. on February 23, 2024 at Silver Oaks Health Campus.
Bill was born September 17, 1932, in Medora, Indiana the son of Emmitt and Dillie (George) Fish. He married Virginia “Jenny” Harrison on September 6, 1958.
Bill was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching professional football, NASCAR, IU, and Purdue basketball. He loved to hunt and fish and enjoyed the company of his friends and neighbors. His favorite pastime was being with his family and grandkids. Bill served in the U.S. Army where he spent 1 year in Thule, Greenland. For 39 years he worked for Peters’ Heating &Air Conditioning, before retiring at 65. He then started his own company Fish’s Heating and Air and worked for another 20-plus years. He will be greatly missed.
The funeral was at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 27, 2024, at Jewell Rittman Family Funeral Home with Ron Bridgewater officiating. Military Rites were performed by the Bartholomew County Veterans Honor Guard. Calling were from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial was at Garland Brook Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Our Hospice of South-Central Indiana or the American Lung Association.
Survivors include his wife, Jenny Fish; son, James (Machelle) Fish of Columbus; grandchildren, Erin Fish, Nicholas Fish, Jacob Fish, Lelynd Fish, and Leyla Fish; and a great-grandchild, Caden Fish.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Emmitt and Dillie Fish; sons, Jeffery Fish and Joe Fish; brothers, Ted Fish, Lyn Fish, and Jim Fish; sisters, Norma Funke, Mary Horning, and Phyllis Peters.
Services were entrusted to the Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home.
