Local author Carrie Beckort discussed her latest novel, “Kingston’s Project,” at the Bartholomew County Public Library. The book follows the main character, Sarah Mitchell, who was presented with an opportunity that could change everything after a tragedy.

1999

Children from around the Columbus area demonstrated their angling skills as part of the Department of Natural Resources’ fifth annual Children’s Fishing Derby at Stone Arch Lake in the Atterbury Fish and Wildlife Area. DNR Conservation Officer Scott Wilson and Judge, a chocolate Labrador retriever, also demonstrated the department’s use of K-9 units in the field at the event.

1974

James K. Baker was sworn in as the new Hope town marshal after taking his oath of office from Homer D. Andrews, town board president. Baker was a member of the Bartholomew County police force for three years before he began his new duties.
