Jake Coffey, former Columbus North star and player at Indiana Wesleyan University, shot a first-round 69 at the Columbus Men’s Tournament to earn a tie for second, two shots off from former men’s city champ Jeff Cowall.

Instead of drawing attention in the show barn, Elizabethtown’s Jennifer Brooks’ pig, Christine, was drawing attention in her pen by performing tricks to earn a powdered donut. Brooks had taught the pig to sit and jump to earn the treat, much to the delight of onlookers.
1974
Dr. W.M. Birenbaum, president of Staten Island Community College, was the guest speaker at First United Methodist Church’s third and final service of its sesquicentennial celebration. Dr. Birenbaum presented a slide show of a 1973 trip he made to China.
