Phyllis Jean Lynn

COLUMBUS

Phyllis Jean Lynn, 81, of Columbus, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 3, 2024. She was born October 7, 1942, in Columbus, to Paul and Dorothy (Loy) Dobbs. They preceded her in death.

Phyllis was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and member of St. Bartholomew Catholic Church. Phyllis, along with her loving husband, raised her children to be strong, to stand their ground against adversity, and to always support family.

Phyllis had a very strong work ethic, working to the age of 72. Throughout her life, she was employed at Arvin, Vernco, Cummins, Cummins Electronics, and Nagakura Engineering Works.

Phyllis loved collecting antiques, reading, and singing. She enjoyed animals, especially dogs and feeding the wildlife in Brown County. She was quite personable, animated, and loved to have fun. She was also a lifelong IU Basketball fan.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Larry, Donald, Alan, and Wayne Dobbs; and sisters, Virginia Dobbs and Carol Joslin.

Survivors include her husband of nearly 60 years, Gerald Lynn; daughters, Jan (Scott) Neal of Indianapolis, and Shauna (David) Thayer of Elizabethtown; son, Charles (Jennifer) Lynn of Hamilton Twp., OH; grandchildren, Connor Lynn, Issac Neal, and Lachele (Adam) Munn; and her sister, Naomi (Gary) Greathouse of Franklin. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews. She will be dearly missed by many.

Visitation will be from 4 – 8 p.m. Thursday, August 8, 2024 at Hathaway-Myers Chapel with a Rosary Service at 7:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Friday, August 9, 2024 at St. Bartholomew Catholic Church with Rev. Clement T. Davis as celebrant. Burial will follow at Garland Brook Cemetery.

Memorials in Phyllis’s name should be directed to Our Hospice of South Central Indiana, St. Bartholomew Catholic Church, or the Alzheimer’s Association.
