Bartholomew County to see rain, high winds from Hurricane Helene through Saturday

Bartholomew County, and much of Central Indiana, will see some impacts from the remnants of Hurricane Helene through Saturday, Bartholomew County Emergency Management said.  Below are the latest updates.

  • Rain will spread northeast across central Indiana Thursday night into Friday night.
  • Slight risk for excessive rainfall threat
  • Wind Advisory from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.  Friday. Wind gusts between 45-55 mph with the potential for isolated higher gusts may result in power outages.
  • Wind gusts over 55 mph possible between 4 and 9 p.m. Friday.
  • River flooding is not expected due to abnormally dry soil, but efficient rainfall rates may lead to localized flash flooding across southern portions of central IN.
  • Unsecured objects may blow around, and difficult driving for high profile vehicles.

COLUMBUS, Ind. — Bartholomew County, and much of Central Indiana, will see some impacts from the remnants of Hurricane Helene through Saturday, Bartholomew County Emergency Management said today.

  • Rain will spread northeast across central Indiana Thursday night into Friday night.
  • 1 to 2 inches or more of rain near and south of I-70 by Saturday morning.
  • Greatest chance for 1 inch + of rainfall south of 1-70 corridor.
  • Windy Friday with gusts 40 to 45 mph and locally higher Friday afternoon and early evening across all of central Indiana.
  • The track of Helene’s remnants could still shift impacting rainfall amounts and timing.
  • No severe weather has been predicted for our area.
  • No watches or warnings have currently been issued for our area.
