Bartholomew County Emergency Management issued an update on weather conditions as the county experiences the remnants of Hurricane Helene today and Saturday.
- There is a slight risk for excessive rainfall and flash flooding
- High Wind WARNING from noon to 11 p.m. Friday. Sustained winds between 30-35 mph. Peak wind gusts between 45-60 mph with the potential for isolated higher gusts may result in power outages.
- Wind gusts over 60 mph possible between 3 and 9 p.m. Friday.
- River flooding is not expected due to abnormally dry soil, but efficient rainfall rates may lead to localized flash flooding across southern portions of central Indiana.
- Unsecured objects may blow around, and difficult driving for high profile vehicles.

- Be weather aware.
- Have multiple ways to receive weather information and warnings.
- Have a safety plan in place and be ready to act when severe weather is imminent.
- Slow down when driving. Heavy rainfall can decrease visibility.
- Do NOT drive through flooded roadways.
