COLUMBUS
Robert Dean Buckler, 77, of Columbus, passed away from this life and joined his soulmate, Carol (Barnaby) Buckler, Tuesday September 17, 2024. He was born October 30, 1946, in Shelbyville, to Virgil Albert and Frances Evelyn (Neal) Buckler. They preceded him in death.
Mr. Buckler was a 1964 graduate of Columbus High School. While in high school, he was a member of the Chess Club, Archery Club, and was the football and basketball manager. He had an amazing mind and was a member of Mensa International. Robert also love hunting, both rifle and bow, and enjoyed his many hunting trips throughout the United States and Canada.
Throughout his life, he worked at BCSC, Arvin Industries, Heriff Jones, Cosco, and most recently at Columbus Regional Hospital. But it was while he was working at the gas company in Columbus that he met the love of his life, Carol Dean (Barnaby) Buckler. She preceded him in death in 2015.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by an infant sister, Tondalaya Irene Buckler.
Survivors include his loving daughter, Anastasia Buckler (Branden Ho) of Columbus; brother, Gary W. (Estelle) Buckler of Columbus; sister, Cheryl N. Buckler of Oregon; grandchildren, Brittani (Nathan) Smith, Blake Mayer, Hayden Mayer and fiance, Ayana, and Gwyneth Paige Ho; and two great granddaughters. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Robert’s Life will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 19, 2024 at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 2651 California St., Columbus, IN 47201, with Brother Aelred Dean as celebrant. There will be fellowship time with the family following the celebration.
A private inurnment will be at Norristown Cemetery.
Memorials in his name are suggested to Indiana Wildlife Federation, The Audubon Society, or St. Paul’s Episcopal Church.
