Decorated trees, extraordinary displays and items from the permanent collection will transform the Historical Society Museum into everyone’s favorite time of year.

A selection of crèches from the collection of Xenia Miller, created by artisans in countries from around the world in a variety of media, will be exhibited. Tablescapes will enhance various themed trees, providing holiday decorating inspiration for guests. ‘twas the Night before Christmas features large panels of original artwork depicting scenes from the famous poem. Columbus artist and teacher, Susie Signorino, created the illustrations used for the panels. Susie has taught art at ABC Stewart School for 17 years and illustrated the book May There Always be Sunshine several years ago. Last year, the Chicago Symphony Orchestra used her illustrations for their animated CSO for Kids series by the Negaunee Music Institute. In addition, they commissioned three added paintings. Harmony includes artist-made ornate Japanese origami cranes as well as a mobile consisting of 150 traditional cranes created by fifth graders from three area elementary schools. A coordinating tree and table scape completes the vignette. In the library, which is available to local residents to trace family roots, will be the display Looking Back – a book-themed tree with handcrafted ornaments created with pages from old books and displays of vintage eyewear from the permanent collection and from a local private collection. In all, fourteen displays will comprise the Christmas Memories exhibition.
