“Perinatal” refers to the period around birth, specifically from the 20th week of pregnancy through the first year after birth. This is a critical period for both the mother and the baby, as it involves significant physiological changes and potential health risks.
The perinatal period is a significant phase in a person’s life that carries both joy and potential challenges, influencing not just the immediate health of the mother and baby but also their future health. The rollercoaster ride of life, where you’re either screaming with joy or holding on tight, all while trying to keep your lunch down!
Postpartum Support International (PSI) is the world’s leading non-profit organization dedicated to helping those suffering from perinatal mood disorders, the most common complication of childbirth. Family Service, INC partnering with Columbus Regional Health, IMPACT, and Columbus Counseling Partners, LLC are proud to offer options for mothers in need in our community.
Please join our “Perinatal Moms Support Group (Pregnant & Post Partum)” on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of the month from 6:30 to 8 p.m. hosted by Jobeth and Cathy. This group is located at Family Service, Inc. at 1531 13th Street, Suite 2540, Columbus, IN. The group is free.
