Costing thousands of lives and creating millions of refugees, the war in Ukraine is the most destructive European conflict since World War II and threatens the peace and stability of the entire world. Former county resident Curtis DeClue will discuss what’s happening in Ukraine and provide a personal perspective on the country and the conflict.

Mr. DeClue has been traveling to Ukraine since 2011. As a representative of the State Department and the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), he has been involved in projects to improve the Ukrainian court system. In his February speech announcing the invasion of Ukraine, Vladimir Putin specifically cited several of Mr. DeClue’s projects as evidence of unacceptable U.S. influence in Ukraine. In addition to significant work on other major international court reform projects, Mr. DeClue formerly served as the circuit court judge for Bartholomew County and currently serves as a federal Special Master for technology issues.
