Best Bet: An uncommon weekend ticket at The Commons and kidscommons

The Commons in downtown Columbus will be the place to be with music and entertainment on three consecutive nights.

At 7:30 p.m. today, Broadway veteran Mandy Gonzalez will be featured with the Columbus Indiana Philharmonic at the Cabaret at The Commons. On Friday, it will be the Langston Hughes Project starting at 7 p.m. Ron McCurdy and his jazz quartet, with some vocal help from Columbus native and Broadway vocalist Marja Harmon, will present “Ask Your Mama: 12 Moods for Jazz” to help mark Black History Month. And then you can help the kidscommons children’s museum at its 12th annual benefit, “Carnivale Italy,” from 7 to 11 p.m. Saturday at the venue, 309 Washington St. in Columbus. It will feature Italian food by Gethin Thomas of the Henry Social Club, a free signature drink, dancing, entertainment, live and silent auctions, and a cash bar.
