Democratic Party sponsors showing of ‘Selma’

The Bartholomew County Democratic Party is sponsoring a special showing of the movie “Selma,” in honor of Black History Month, at 12:30 p.m. Saturday at YES Cinema, 328 Jackson St., Columbus.

The movie is about the march 50 years ago in Alabama from Selma to Montgomery by Martin Luther King Jr. and others in an effort to secure equal voting rights.

Admission is $6. The purchase of concessions supports YES for making the special showing possible.

After the movie, attendees can go to Columbus Bar to discuss the movie, hear from people who had a personal connection to the march and learn about social events the Democratic Party has planned in preparation for this year’s city elections.
