Roommate accused of wielding lumber

A Columbus woman was arrested on battery charges after she was accused of hitting her roommate with a piece of lumber.

Columbus Police Department officers responded to the 3000 block of Rosewood Drive after receiving a call at 6:25 p.m. Tuesday about a battery, department spokesman Sgt. Matt Harris said.

The victim, a 66-year-old male, told police that his 49-year-old roommate, Kimberly Jo Fields, became upset after learning that he planned to sell the home at 3812 Longshore Drive. She struck him with the piece of wood, causing bruising and non-life-threatening injuries to his back, right arm, shoulder and head, Harris said.

The victim went to the Rosewood Drive residence for help. He was later taken to Columbus Regional Hospital for treatment, Harris said.

Fields was arrested on preliminary charges of criminal confinement, a Level 6 felony, and battery with bodily injury, a Class A misdemeanor.
