The Well Armed Woman Southern Indiana Chapter will celebrate its one-year anniversary with a special event from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday.
The meeting topic is Self Defense for Women. Sgt. Tom Smith, Bartholomew County Sheriff Department, and his wife Becky, who is retired from the sheriff’s department, will be the speakers.
Each meeting consists of an hour’s education and then range time. Women who attend may shoot either a .22-caliber or a 9 mm handgun after attending a brief gun and range safety session.
Participants must be at least 21 years old, and no children are allowed. Hearing and eye protection is provided. National Rifle Association Range Safety Officers will monitor and assist each woman at the range.
Cost to attend is $5. In order to shoot at the range, the ammunition must be purchased, and only cash or checks are accepted.
