Central boys roll to win

The Central seventh-grade boys downed Seymour 83-22.

Winning for Central were the 3,200 relay (Drew Helton, Nate Woods, Zane Gruwell, Noah Feltner), Daveed Jolley in the 100, Zane Gruwell in the 1,600, the 400 relay (Evan Patterson, Jackson Payne, Jolley, Zerek Greathouse), Lance Greiwe in the 400, the 1,600 relay (Patterson, Harley Ford, Drew Helton, Greiwe), Greathouse in the high jump, Jolley in the long jump and Ford in the shot put.

The Central eighth-grade boys nipped Seymour 53-52.

Winning for Central were Edgar Garcia in the 100 hurdles, T.J. Bruce in the 100 dash, the 400 relay (Garcia, Bruce, Antony Espinoza, Preston Gapsiewicz), Gapsiewicz in the 200, Isaac VanCurren in the 800, the 1,600 relay (Garcia, VanCurren, Espinoza, Jalen Paswater) and Bruce in the shot put.

In other action, the Central boys downed Jackson Creek 73-45. Winners were Edgar Garcia in the 110 hurdles, T.J. Bruce in the 100, Garcia in the 400 and 200 hurdles, Daveed Jolley in the 200, Zane Gruwell in the 1,600 and 2,400, Isaac VanCuren in the 800 and discus and the 400 and 1,600 relay teams.

Central’s boys also beat Brown County 64-36.

Winners were Edgar Garcia in the 110 hurdles, T.J. Bruce in the 100, Daveed Jolley in the 200, Justice Perry in the 800, Ben Kuhlman in the high jump, Bruce in the shot put and the 3,200, 400 and 1,600 relay teams.

The Central seventh-grade girls lost to Seymour 54-51. Winners for Central were Emily Stiles in the 100 and 100 hurdles, Riley Eder in the shot put, Brea Hunter in the 200 and Zoey Horn in the high jump.

The Central eighth-grade girls lost to Seymour 62-43. Winning for Central were Ashley Allen in the 100 hurdles, Taylor Johnson in the 100, Keeleigh Kikendall in the high jump, Emelia Henderson in the shot put, Beyoncey Coleman-Turner in the discus and Allen in the long jump.

In other girls action, Central lost to Indian Creek 79-21. Megan Whipple won the 800.

Central dropped a 60-49 decision to Jackson Creek. Winners were Allen in the 100 hurdles, Breiana Burton in the 200 hurdles, Abby Lewis in the 200, Allen in the long jump, Kikendall in the high jump and Coleman-Turner in the shot put and discus.

Panthers sprint to win

The Jennings County seventh- and eighth-grade boys team downed Brownstown 78-27. Winning for the Panthers were the 3,200 relay (Alex Hendrix, Carter Leak, Gavin Hendrix and Jason Gasper), Alex Hendrix in the 100 hurles, Kyle Collins in the 100, Alex Hendrix in the 1,600, the 400 relay (Jake Corya, Brooks Wathen, Tyler Henry, Collins), Justin Copeland in the 400, Alex Hendrix in the 800, Jonathan Kipper in the 200, Corya in the long jump and Henry in the high jump.

The team also downed Crothersville 79-25.

Jennings County defeated Scottsburg 83-22. Winning for Jennings County were the 3,200 relay, Brooks Wathen in the 100 hurdles, Kyle Collins in the 100, Alex Hendrix in the 1,600, the 400 relay, Justin Copeland in the 400, Alex Hendrix in the 800, Collins in the 200, the 1,600 relay, Tyler Henry in the shot put, Shawn Warner in the discus, Jake Corya in the long jump and Henry in the high jump.

GOLF

Panthers falls short

The Jennings County boys seventh- and eighth-grade team fell just short in a tri-meet against Hazelwood and Scribner.

The Panthers were seven shots short of Scribner, which posted a 169. Scorers for Jennings County were Bryce Kirchner (38), Hunter Conrad (43), Keegan Beal (46), Jakob Kirby (49), Joe Kelley (52), Nathan Shepherd (55) and Adam Leach (58). The match was played at Cherry Valley Golf Club in New Albany.

BOWLING

More high local scores

Steve Sebastian posted the high score in Wednesday Night Mixed League play with a 255 game, followed by Clint Million at 249 and Richard Baldwin at 247.

John Zieleniuk had the high series of 683, followed by Million at 669 and Sebastian at 657.

On the women’s side, Carolyn Baldwin shot the high score of 201, followed by Lu Kinman at 200 and Sarah Jessup at 193. Jessup had the high series of 555, followed by Baldwin at 544 and Kinman at 513.

50-50 had the high team game with an 878 and Aces & 8s had the high team series at 2,569. P.J.’s leads the standings at 156-92, followed by Aces & 8s at 152-96 and Beer Nuts at 150-98.

In Thursday Ladies Matinee action, Carolyn Burton had the high series of 505, followed by Lu Kinman at 498 and Leda Dean at 481. Dean had the high game of 182, followed by Kinman at 179 and Burton at 170.

Chillin Out had the high team series of 1,838 and the high team game of 626. Heavy Bound leads the standings at 141-115, followed by Pin Seekers at 129-127.
