Letter: 7 Tower rehab deserves kudos

Recently I had hip replacement surgery at Columbus Regional Hospital.

I was given the opportunity to do my rehabilitation in the rehab unit of the seventh floor. This unit requires that you dress every day and take all meals in the dining room.

I was not sure I liked this but was willing to give it a try. What I found was a group of knowledgeable people who not only care but know just what to do and how to do it.

I have never been treated so well or made to feel so important as I was in this unit. From the doctor to the registered nurse to the certified nursing assistant and therapy, everyone makes you feel as if you were the only person on the unit, and they were informed.

If you have a question you will never hear the words “I don’t know.” If you have a concern, that concern is acted upon within hours, not days. They know just how much to push you to be independent without making you feel like they don’t want to help.

I spent seven days on this unit and went from total care to independent in that time. I went home with the confidence that I could take care of myself. My family also was schooled in the best way to care for me and my restrictions. This made them feel more comfortable when their help was needed.

I can not say enough about the wonderful staff of this unit. If you find yourself or a loved one needing rehab from a surgery, stroke or heart attack, don’t hesitate to avail yourself of the services of 7 Tower. You will not be sorry.
