2 IUPUC faculty members receive promotions

The Indiana University Board of Trustees recently approved promotions of two IUPUC faculty members. Kimdy Le was granted tenure and promoted to the rank of associate professor, and Gary Felsten was promoted to full professor rank, the highest level of advancement in academia.

To achieve this honor, Le and Felsten were evaluated by the board on their record of achievement over the course of their academic careers.

Professor, student featured in Indiana Business Review

IUPUC finance professor Ryan Brewer and student Kayla Freeman are featured in the spring issue of Indiana Business Review, the official research outlet for the Indiana University Kelley School of Business.

Their research, titled “Inexpensively Estimating the Economic Impact of Sports Tourism Program in Small American Cities” was first presented at the annual IUPUC Student Research Exhibition.

The project developed a model for economic impact estimation of an annual sports program not requiring event-specific surveys.

Manchester University announces graduates

Area students graduating from Manchester University in North Manchester include:

Erika Kahlenbeck, Columbus, cum laude, bachelor’s degree in elementary education.

Jocelyn Hamilton, Columbus, bachelor’s degree in sport management.

Trent Teltoe, Edinburgh, bachelor’s degree in sport management.

Silas Sims, Hope, bachelor’s degree in environmental studies.

The students graduated May 17, among 252 students who received degrees.

Local student named to university’s president’s list

Latthaphon Lormongkol of Flat Rock was named to the president’s list at Davenport University for the winter 2015 semester. Students must maintain a 3.8 grade-point average while enrolled in at least nine credits of regular coursework.

Franklin College seniors honored at convocation

Senior class members of Alpha Society at Franklin College were recognized at the college’s annual spring Honors Convocation on April 28.

Established in 1922, the Alpha Society is an academic honorary society at the college. To be eligible for membership, students must have a GPA of no less than 3.5 on a 4.0 scale.

Honored were Kristin Davis, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Davis, Columbus, and Michelle Murphy, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gary Murphy, Columbus.

Columbus resident, Culver grad appointed to West Point

Jesse Brownfield, Columbus, a 2015 graduate of Culver Military Academy, has been appointed to the U.S. Military Academy Preparatory School.

Those attending will compete for appointments to West Point in 2016.

Brownfield is the son of Kirk and Carol Brownfield, Columbus.
