Baseball team to conduct open tryouts at Ceraland

The Columbus Dirt Dawgs baseball team will conduct open tryouts for its 2016 8U travel team from 2 to 4 p.m. today at Ceraland.

Saturday Morning Sports Injury Clinic available

Southern Indiana Orthopedics will offer its Saturday Morning Sports Injury Clinic again this year from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. Saturdays.

End of Summer Golf Bash to benefit youth sports

Foundation For Youth and PAAL will host an End of Summer Golf Bash to benefit youth athletics in Columbus at 12:30 p.m. Thursday at Otter Creek Golf Course. Lunch is at 11:30 a.m.

Cost is $110 per individual or $420 per foursome and includes lunch, soft drinks, prizes for longest drive and closest to the pin, a hole-in-one contest and a gift for each golfer.

Small Ball Bash features coed, men’s tournaments

The Cole Weddle Scholarship Small Ball Bash will be Saturday and Sept. 20 at Lincoln Park.

The coed softball tourney will begin at 9 a.m. Sept. 19, and the men’s tourney will start at 9 a.m. Sept. 20. Entry fee is $150 per team, and three games are guaranteed. The signup deadline is noon Thursday.

Drive and Putt Contest coming to Greenbelt

Columbus East senior Will Mayhew is conducting the Andy Critzer Drive and Putt Contest for his senior project from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Sept. 20 at Greenbelt Golf Course.

There will be driving contests for students, men and seniors and putting contest for all ages. Cost is $10 for seven putts and drives. Prizes will be awarded to winners, and the first 60 participants will receive two golf balls.

Proceeds will benefit the Andy Critzer Memorial/Heritage Fund.

North girls basketball team hosting fundraiser

The defending Class 4A state champion Columbus North girls basketball team is holding a Crew Carwash fundraiser.

Players and managers will sell coupons through Sept. 29 for $8 that may be redeemed for a car wash at any of Crew Carwash’s central Indiana locations. The tickets have no expiration date.

Proceeds will benefit the team’s contribution to the cost of renovation to its locker room and meeting space, along with other team expenses for the 2015-16 season.
