Roker telecast to be featured at Ivy Tech

Al Roker, a nationally recognized weatherman and television personality for NBC’s “Today,” is participating in a broadcast that will be shown at Ivy Tech Community College.

The event is being sponsored by the college’s chapter of The National Society of Leadership and Success and is titled “Heroism in Disaster.” It will be broadcast from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Columbus Learning Center Lecture Hall, 4555 Central Ave., and is free and open to the public.

The broadcast will be streamed live and hosted by New Jersey City University. Viewers may submit questions via Twitter and Facebook, most of which will be answered live during the broadcast.

Roker, who wrote the book “The Storm of the Century,” tells the story of heroism and survival during the Great Gulf Hurricane of 1900.

He will talk about leadership, the resolve of the community to recover from devastation and the national response to the crisis by groups across the county to raise funds and supplies.

The National Society of Leadership and Success Speaker Broadcast Series reaches more than 493 college campuses and 504,000 students each month during the academic year.
