Entrepreneur headlining chamber’s SPARK event

Building a successful business requires a willingness to take risks, and one local resident has proven repeatedly that he is more than willing to go out on a limb.

The list of Amit Patel’s businesses successes is lengthy, but residents will have the chance to learn about each of those triumphs when Patel gives a presentation about his career at the Columbus Area Chamber of Commerce’s November SPARK Columbus event.

Patel will address residents from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday at La Quinta Inn and Suites.

Patel’s presentation will chronicle his journey to entrepreneurial success, which began when he moved to Columbus from India with his parents when he was 10 years old.

At that time, Patel’s parents owned the Knights Inn, which exposed him to the hospitality industry he would enter as an adult.

Patel eventually razed the Knights Inn and built what is now the LaQuinta Inn, a renovation that was especially risky in the midst of the 2009 recession.

The 33-year-old will discuss his decision to open the new hotel, and the decisions that led him into his other business ventures, including the local Dental Solutions practice, at the Chamber’s presentation.

Admission to the event is free. For more information, contact the Columbus Area Chamber of Commerce by calling 812-379-4457.
