New landmark for historic Hope

A 19th century-style clock has been placed on the Hope Town Square.

The Seth Thomas replica clock was custom made for the town by Verdin Clock Company of Cincinnati, said Michael Dean of Heritage of Hope, which sponsored the project.

Located on the north-west corner of the square, the clock is part of the first phase of a $140,000 town square improvement project, funded in part through a $50,000 matching grant from the Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs.

Individual, corporate and municipal funding also is supporting the project.

The clock, mounted in a new brick plaza, was installed by Fourman Enterprises and Nading Mechanical of Hope and set for the proper time at 2:04 p.m. Thursday.

Elsbury’s Greenhouse and The Greenhouse at Windy Hill provided landscaping assistance, Dean said.
