DAR organization names 2015-16 Good Citizens

The Daughters of the American Revolution Good Citizens award program and scholarship contest has announced the 2015-16 Good Citizens.They are:

» Joshua A. Felde, son of Steven and Linda Felde, Columbus Christian

» Avery D. Tallent, son of Dan and Jackie Tallent, Hauser High School

» Nicholas M. Andrie, son of Michael Andrie, Columbus East High School

» Mason Mitchell, son of Matt and Lorie Mitchell, Columbus North High School

» Emily H. Bishop, daughter of Howard and Susan Bishop, Columbus Signature Academy

One of these participants will be chosen to enter the state level of the scholarship program.

The program is open to all senior class students enrolled in accredited public or private secondary schools.

Students selected as a Good Citizen must exhibit the qualities of dependability, service and patriotism.

Flat Rock-Hawcreek, hospital partner for athletic services

Flat Rock-Hawcreek School Corp. is partnering with Columbus Regional Health as an exclusive provider of sports medicine and athletic training services.As part of the partnership, Columbus Regional Health will provide an athletics trainer for Hauser Jr.-Sr. High School. The school has a full-time certified athletics trainer, Amy Shipp, who works with student athletes at Hauser.

The new partnership will extend services such as concussion screening and management to student athletes, a news release from the hospital states.
