Bennie E. Drinnon, 86, of Columbus, passed from this life at 8:21 a.m. Wednesday, November 18, 2015, at his home.

Bennie was born August 21, 1929, in Hawkins County, Tennessee, to John and Nenish Brown Drinnon. He was a faithful member of Mountain View Missionary Baptist Church in Brownstown, Indiana, where he served as a deacon for 50 years. He was a veteran of the Korean War.

He retired in 1991 from Hamilton Cosco where he had worked for 35½ years. He enjoyed gardening, farming and spending time with his family.

Bennie married Mildred M. Lawson June 29, 1956, in Tennessee.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years; his daughter, Pennie (Jay) Snider of Columbus; a son, Allen (Kari) Drinnon of Seymour; five grandchildren, Garrett (Teage) and Andrew Drinnon, Jennifer (Todd) Clemens and Clayton and Cole Snider; and two great-grandchildren, Carter and Cami Clemens.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and three brothers.

Calling will be Sunday, November 22, 2015, at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home from noon until 2:00 p.m. The funeral service will be conducted immediately following at 2:00 p.m. with the Rev. Danny Jewel officiating. Burial will be at Mountain View Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery following the service, with military honors presented by American Legion Post No. 89 and V.F.W. Post No. 1925 Honor Guard.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Mountain View Missionary Baptist Church through the funeral home.
