Downtown post office open today, Sunday

The U.S. Postal Service in Columbus is helping customers who are busy with packaging gifts and mailing Christmas cards by opening for four hours today and next Sunday.

The local post office, 450 Jackson St., will be open from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. today and next Sunday.

The post office has listed the following mail-by dates to ensure delivery before Dec. 25:

» Tuesday: Standard post for ground service and oversized packages.

» Dec. 19: First-class mail and small packages weighing up to 13 ounces.

» Dec. 21: Priority mail for delivery in one, two or three days.

» Dec. 23: Priority mail express, for guaranteed overnight scheduled delivery. Some restrictions and exceptions may apply.
